U2 a sort of homecoming - U2 Chords & Tabs : 1349 Total @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

“A Sort Of Homecoming” is one of U2’s most ambitious songs from their early career, but also one which encompasses many of the faults of this period of the band’s development. On paper, the lyric is scattershot and very vague and it’s very confusing in places. Lines such as “oh, oh, oh…on the borderland we run” preceding a verse about “I’ll be there tonight…I believe” is emblematic of the whole song. It’s almost as if Bono is trying too hard to make some artistic statement, and it ends up falling short. “A Sort Of Homecoming” is certainly sung and played with fervour, but that’s typical of the group. It’s the band’s simple songs that have stood the test of time best, and unfortunately this song is one of their most hopelessly ambitious.
